BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN PARENTS & TEACHERS

Listen to John on The Bruce Hooley Show

A Central Ohio native, John graduated from Columbus Alternative High School and later earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University. While attending college, he grew to love the skill of cutting hair and has worked as a licensed barber for 25 years. He was raised in a loving and nurturing family with his father, a teacher and mother a social worker. Both parents modeled and taught the significance of strong family values, financial responsibility and education.  Member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Eta Gamma chapter 1990.

John is running for the Gahanna-Jefferson Board of Education to bridge the gap between parents and teachers.  He firmly believes in our schools providing complete disclosure and transparency regarding all academic teachings so parents are fully informed of what our children are learning every day. John also desires for our students to regain academic excellence in the areas of Math, English, History, and other vital subjects while focusing less on outside ideologies, agendas and movements.  John also want to focus on eliminating violence and physical harm which may take place in the classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, cafeterias and playgrounds.

John and his wife, Heidi, have been married for 22 years. They have three wonderful children, Olivia, Daniel and Zechariah. John and his family moved to Gahanna in 2014. All three children attended Lincoln Elementary, Gahanna Middle School South and Gahanna Lincoln High School. Olivia is a 2023 Valedictorian graduate who is studing physical therapy at the University of Cincinnati. Daniel, a member of the Class of 2025, will be attending OSU Newark to pursue a degree in Information Technology with a minor in music.  Zechariah is a sophomore honor roll student and is beginning his ninth year studying Chinese (Mandarin) this fall.

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN PARENTS & TEACHERS

I BELIEVE...

  • Educating our children is a team effort between parents and teachers, with parents taking the lead.

  • Protecting the parents rights is primary to the safety and stability of our children.

As a school board member

  • Return the focus to academics and classroom positivity

  • Spend your tax and levy dollars responsibly.

  • Give direction to children and families who need medical attention while removing the burden of care from non-medical professionals.

  • Bring transparency and clarity to new terms and ideologies.

  • Listen to all parents and teachers in an equitable manner.

I WILL...

Please come out and vote November 4th for John Dooley
